The Nokia X6 is a high end XpressMusic edition from Nokia. While other midrange music phones are performing well, the high end smart phone with excellent music features is welcomed by many users. It is a little disappointing that the whole body of Nokia X6 is composed of plastic since it is a high-end and pricy phone. The video call camera is fixed at the top of the front panel along with a few sensors. And below the large screen, there are call, menu and end buttons.
The centerpiece of the
Nokia X6
is its 3.2 inches HVGA capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels and it can brightly display 16 million colors. The touch screen is quite sensitive and better than some midrange resistive touch screens. You just need gently touch it to activate the menus. The only drawback of the screen is that it is not readable under the sunlight.
There is a 5MP camera furnished with Carl Zeiss lens and dual LED flash at the back of Nokia X6. However, there are no some common features such as face detection, smile detection in Nokia X6 even though is is a high end phone. In addition, there is no lens cover to protect the camera.
The music player of the
Nokia X6
is loaded with features, but the looks aren t too flashy. There are five equalizer presets and you can always customize them according to the way you like. A dedicated media key above the screen gets to the music player immediately and you can run the player in the background. The Playlist DJ is a noteworthy feature that scans through your music library to create a playlist depending on the mood you have set. The music store is also an integral part of the Nokia X6. The video player provides good video watching experience, but there is no DivX or XviD support. The FM radio with RDS makes entertainment a package complete.
The Symbian S60 5th edition user interface is much basic, except for the addition of the touch screen. Kinetic scrolling can be used inside interface for the file browser to web browser. The menus are centered on icons and there are scroll bars for icon menus. When you turn the Nokia X6 to landscape mode, you will find a full QWERTY keyboard on the screen. However, there is no auto rotation of home screens when you change the orientation of the phone. The home screen too lacks widgets as they are meant for the N series mobile phones from Nokia. By pressing and holding menu keys, you can bring up the task manager which is useful for switching between tasks.
The Nokia X6 owns a fully featured phone book where you can use kinetic scrolling. And you can freely assign personal videos and ringstones to diferrent contacts. In view of voicce quality, the telephony of Nokia X6 has good performance. However, smart dialing feature is absent even when voice dialing is present .
All types of messages, such as SMS, MMS and emails are supported by the Nokia X6 and they share a common editor. Aside from the QWERTY keyboard, you can also use the alphanumeric touch screen keyboard. The connectivity options are ample with support for 3G network too. The web browser is useful, but it could be more user friendly. Owing to the GPS receiver with lifetime City Explorer license and Ovi Maps, the Nokia X6 facilitate navigation during your travel.
