Suppose you are looking for antiques mirror for sale, how should you go about doing this? Well here are some suggestions. First you should try to decide on what type of mirror to look for. This will often depend on the room that you are going to furnish: perhaps an over-mantle mirror to hang over the fireplace, or a tall dressing mirror for bedroom or hallway, or even both types.
There is a wide selection of shapes and sizes available, so take some time to look around and decide what you would like to buy. Look for antique mirrors in the Internet and you will find lots of sites with pictures included. Buy some books on the subject or visit your local library. You will see that some of the small ones are quite cheap, but the larger and more ornate ones cost a few thousand dollars.
When you decide what you want to get, then you have a few choices of action such as: ordering from an antique dealer; ordering online from marketplace sites such as Ebay; or carrying out a search of your own in your area. There are advantages and disadvantages of each.
The first option, ordering from an antique dealer, is the most reliable method. You will be dealing with an antiques expert, and will usually get exactly what you order. You won t have to worry about whether the mirror is a genuine antique or a reproduction. The only disadvantage is the cost, as the dealer will have to make a profit and you could end up paying much more that the current market value of the item.
The next option is to order it directly over the Internet. I mention the site Ebay.com because they are probably the worlds largest online market, and you will find several items advertised here. Ebay is not the only site, if you search for the chosen item you will probably find adverts in lots of different sites. You will probably have a few different prices to choose from also, and you can usually find one that suits your needs, at a very reasonable price. Often you can bargain with the sellers also, to reduce the price even more. Remember that there will be shipping costs included, so you need to include that in your calculations.
However, the big problem with this method is that you are very often dealing with the unknown. There is a risk that you will end up getting deceived or cheated. You need to use common sense with this method, and decide for yourself if the seller can be trusted. If the item is an expensive item, then I would not recommend this method.
So the third option when looking for antique mirrors for sale is to search for the item yourself. Knowledge of antique mirrors is vital for this option. Some people have a passion for searching for and collecting rare antiques, but some do not. You would need to research the subject, and find out all you can. Buy a good reference book and you can carry it around with you in your search. Visit every market or auction that you hear of. Travel as far afield as you can, to neighbouring towns and cities also. Antique mirrors for sale are nearly always included in estate auctions. You might end up waiting for a long while before you find your desired antique mirror, but some people enjoy this challenge very much.
Whichever method you choose, hopefully you will soon find what you are looking for.
